Hi, I'm Brittany.
I've spent almost a decade studying how dogs learn, why they struggle, and what makes the partnership between a person and their pup truly click. I started Brittany's K9 Training LLC because every dog deserves a trainer who shows up for them - and every family deserves a calmer, happier household. Puppy training and puppy obedience training are some of my favorite work: getting in early, building the foundation right, and giving Columbus families a head start they'll feel for years.

When to start
The best time to start puppy training is yesterday. The next best time is today.
Puppies can start formal puppy obedience training as early as 8 weeks old. We work with brand-new puppies, the gangly four-month-old phase, and the “teenager” six-to-twelve-month stretch where good habits often start to wobble. It is never too early — and almost never too late — to start.
Group puppy classes typically wait until your puppy has had their second round of vaccinations. In-home puppy training and our 5-day puppy board & train can usually start sooner, since we're working in controlled environments.

When should I start puppy training?+
Puppy training and puppy obedience training can start as early as 8 weeks old - and honestly, the earlier the better. The first few months are when your puppy is forming lifelong habits and social associations, so any structured training during that window pays off for years. We work with brand-new puppies, the gangly four-month-olds, and the 'teenage' six-to-twelve-month phase too.
What's the difference between puppy training and puppy obedience training?+
I tend to use them interchangeably, but here's the nuance I work with: 'puppy training' is the umbrella - potty training, crate manners, socialization, nipping, jumping, the whole life-with-a-puppy package. 'Puppy obedience training' is the focused skill-building piece inside that: sit, down, stay, come, leave it, loose-leash walking. Every puppy program I run blends both, because they reinforce each other.
Do you offer puppy classes in Columbus, OH?+
Yes - puppy training is one of my specialties. I offer in-home puppy training across Columbus and the surrounding suburbs, small-group puppy classes, and a 5-day Puppy Board & Train for owners who want a head start on foundation skills. Group puppy classes typically begin after your puppy's second round of vaccinations.
What ages of dogs do you work with?+
Everyone! Puppies as young as 8 weeks all the way through senior dogs. Old dogs absolutely can learn new tricks - sometimes faster than the puppies, even.
Do you work with reactive or aggressive dogs?+
Yes, I work with reactive dogs and some aggressive cases depending on severity. Every dog is different, so I assess each case individually to make sure it's a good fit.
What methods do you use?+
Primarily reward-based and balanced - meaning we reinforce what we love and clearly communicate what we don't. Every dog is an individual, and I tailor methods to the dog in front of me.
How long until I see results?+
Most owners begin seeing progress after the first lesson. If changes are not noticeable right away, improvement is typically seen within the next few lessons. Every dog progresses at their own pace, and results can vary based on the dog, training goals, and consistency outside of sessions.
Do you offer service-dog certifications?+
There is no federally-recognized 'certification' in the US, but I do offer service-dog task training and public-access readiness. We'll discuss your needs in a free consult.
What areas do you serve?+
Columbus, Westerville, Hilliard, Powell, Dublin, Grove City, New Albany, Gahanna, Lancaster, Canal Winchester, Sunbury, Johnstown, Circleville, and Ashville. Outside the area? Reach out anyway - for board & train we welcome dogs from further away.
Do you require vaccinations?+
Yes. Dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccinations before training begins.
